19 June 2013, Rome – FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva and Nicaraguan Vice-President Omar Halleslevens Acevedo concurred on the importance of promoting gender equity when they met at FAO headquarters today.
During the meeting the Vice-President noted that under Nicaraguan law, 50 percent of public posts must be filled by women. Women are also the main beneficiaries of family grants that help them carry on activities such

José Graziano da Silva congratulated the Minister on his recent appointment and welcomed his offer, noting Bulgaria’s regional role and its wide technical experience and knowledge of agriculture.
