Director-General meets with Polish Under-secretary of State

Graziano da Silva meets Krystyna Gurbel, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland

3 April 2014, Bucharest, Romania – FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva met today with Krystyna Gurbel, Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland.

The encounter took place on the margins of the 29th FAO Regional Conference for Europe, which is the Organization’s regional governing body for Europe and Central Asia.

The Undersecretary of State expressed the interest of the Polish Government in celebrating the International Year of Family Farming in the country. She noted that small farms are an important part of Poland’s agriculture system, producing a significant share of the country’s food.

The Director-General welcomed the initiative of the Government to involve Polish national experts – including specialists in the area of agricultural cooperatives development – on the way to European integration.
