El FIDA expandirá su presencia sobre el terreno con el apoyo de la FAO
27 de febrero de 2013, Roma, Italia - FAO will assist the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) to establish country offices on FAO’s premises in selected countries, according to a framework agreement signed today by the chiefs of the two Rome-based food agencies.
FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva and IFAD President Kanayo F. Nwanze signed the accord at IFAD headquarters during its Governing Council.
The agreement is designed to enhance long-standing cooperation between the two agencies, cooperation that was highlighted during the Council when the staff of IFAD, FAO and WFP working in Mozambique were given a Award of Excellence for what they have achieved in developing the country through close collaboration.
The framework agreement covers countries in which IFAD has on-going programmes and projects staffed by officers outposted from its headquarters, as well as national staff in certain countries.
FAO will provide IFAD with office space, and administrative and logistic support. For example, FAO will handle the hiring of national staff for IFAD’s needs and process travel authorizations for IFAD staff.
The agreement sets out various financial arrangements to cover costs.
