FAO pledges increased support to Kyrgyzstan
20 June 2013, Rome, Italy - FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva met with Chyngysbek Makeshovich Uzakbaev, Kyrgyzstan Minister for Agriculture and Amelioration yesterday. Discussions touched upon the FAO Country Programming Framework in Kyrgyzstan for 2011-2015.
Graziano da Silva pledged to continue supporting Kyrgyzstan’s rural development efforts through policy and technical interventions in agriculture, fisheries, forestry and food and nutrition security. Special attention will be paid to livestock development.
At the request of the Government, FAO has agreed to open a fully-fledged representation in the country in line with FAO’s policy of decentralization.
