Director-General meets Vice Chairman of the Qatar National Food Security Programme (QNFSP)
11 October 2013, Rome, Italy – Sheikh Hamad Bin Ali Al-Thani,Vice Chairman of the Qatar National Food Security Programme (QNFSP), praised FAO Director-General for his support to the Programme at a meeting held today at FAO Headquarters, where he also conveyed the greetings of Fahad Bin Mohammed Al-Attiya, Chairman of the QNFSP.
Sheikh Hamad Bin Ali Al-Thani highlighted the ongoing cooperation with FAO and thanked Director-General for the assistance in the design and implementation of Agricultural Projects within Master Plan of his country.
The Vice Chairman alluded to the efforts of his country in the research of best practices related to the enhancement of agricultural production in a dry areas and stressed the benefit of such research for the region as a whole. “Whatever we develop in Qatar we would like to share it with other countries”, said Sheikh Hamad Bin Ali Al-Thani.
The Vice Chairman also informed Graziano da Silva that the Emir of Qatar has officially announced the endorsement of the new Global Dry Land Alliance during the United Nations General Assembly in New York last month, an initiative to which FAO has already expressed its support.
