Graziano da Silva meets Bhutan’s Minister of Agriculture and Forests

20 February 2014, Rome – FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva met with Bhutan’s Minister for Agriculture and Forests, Lyonpo Yeshey Dorji, at FAO headquarters today.

Both leaders discussed the excellent collaboration between the Organization and Bhutan during the preparation of the Country Programming Framework, a tool for the FAO country-level strategic prioritization and overall medium-term country-level programming. Graziano da Silva thanked the Minister for his personal involvement throughout the planning process.  

The FAO head and the Minister also expressed their willingness in further strengthening collaboration in a range of strategic areas, such as dairy programme and trans boundary animal diseases.

The Minister informed Graziano da Silva of the newly approved food and nutrition policy approved by the Royal Government of Bhutan and requested FAO to keep providing technical assistance on a number of areas, including rice production.
