FAO and Georgia discuss scaling up activity on animal health

3 April 2014, Bucharest, Romania – FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva and Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Georgia David Natroshvili agreed to expand cooperation in many areas of agriculture, particularly in animal health and cooperatives development.

Their encounter took place on the margins of the 29th FAO Regional Conference for Europe, which is the Organization’s governing body for the Europe and Central Asia region.

The Deputy Ministry underlined that his Government is relying on FAO support on the path to EU integration, particularly on harmonization of national legislation on food safety and trade standards.

It was agreed at the meeting to scale up the FAO’s animal health programme in Georgia.
