FAO Director-General meets Cyprus Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment

Cyprus ready to share its experience in water management and irrigation

3 April 2014, Bucharest, Romania – At a meeting with FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva, Cyprus Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment Nicos Kouyialis expressed deep gratitude for support FAO provided to Cyprus in the area of irrigation and water management.

"From this point forward -he said- Cyprus is ready to share with other countries the experience gained in the course of programme implementation."

The meeting was conducted on the sidelines of the 29th FAO Regional Conference for Europe, which is the Organization’s regional governing body.

The Minister underlined Cyprus’s aspiration to expand partnership with FAO, particularly in the area of “blue economy” in the framework of Mediterranean cooperation, and the Government’s intention to commemorate the International Year of Family Farming in Cyprus.
