Angola thanks FAO for successful implementation of projects

20 June 2013, Rome –José Graziano da Silva met yesterday with Afonso Pedro Canga, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Angola, and Victoria Francisco Lopes Cristovao de Barros Neto, Minister for Fisheries.  The Director-General congratulated the Angolan Government for its outstanding progress in fighting hunger, formally recognized at a ceremony here on Sunday.  

Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development expressed his Government’s support of the Director-General’s Programme of Work and Budget and for his work in strengthening the Organization. He thanked FAO for successfully implementing several projects in his country, some of them developed after Graziano da Silva’s visit in to Angola in February 2013. 

The Minister noted  that a focal point has been appointed in the Ministry for FAO’s matters. He thanked the Organization for its financial support in implementing a census of forest.
