FAO staff in Senegal committed to Results-Based Approach to their work
2 November 2013, Dakar, Senegal - FAO Director-General met with staff members from the FAO Representation in Senegal and the Subregional Emergency and Rehabilitation Office, both based in Dakar.
FAO Representative Vincent Martin welcomed Graziano da Silva to Senegal, saying that the visit helped reaffirm FAO support to the government, as well as to civil society and the private sector.
Graziano da Silva also had a meeting with the United Nations System coordination team and some partner organizations in Senegal to discuss the issue of food security and nutrition. According to the FAO team in Senegal, these meetings and consultations should lead to future actions with national and regional partners.
The Director-General underlined the importance of the new FAO strategy based on five Strategic Objectives and deployed in Senegal through the new Country Programming Framework (CPF).
Staff members welcomed priorityactions set forth in the CPF as well as FAO’s renewed vision, the result of new momentum gained since Graziano da Silva took office. They added that the ongoing decentralization process has led the Organization to improve its efficiency in the field and should be supported and enhanced.
They reaffirmed their commitment to pursue a Results-Based Approach to their work, being aware that it ensures a major impact of FAO activities.
Staff members presented gifts to the Director-General as keepsakes of his trip to Senegal. They expressed their appreciation for his attention and desire to exchange views with them.
