Graziano da Silva meets Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Turkmenistan

FAO and Turkmenistan agree to strengthen cooperation

3 April 2014, Bucharest, Romania – FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva met today with Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture of Turkmenistan, Allanur Altyev, on the margins of the 29th FAO Regional Conference for Europe, which is the Organization’s governing body for the Europe and Central Asia region.

Altyev reported Graizano da Silva on Turkmenistan’s national priorities in agriculture and both discussed ways of strengthening cooperation in areas suchas as water conservation and drip irrigation, livestock production, control of animal disease and pests, and locust control.

The Director-General said that FAO would support Turkmenistan in speeding up the process of Country Programming Framework design and agreement, called upon Turkmenistan to actively participate in regional projects.
