FAO Director-General meets with head of Montenegro delegation at the Regional Conference for Europe

More than 600 000 small farms in the country play a key role in food security

3 April 2014, Bucharest, Romania – FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva met today with Blagota Radulovic, Assistant Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development of Montenegro and head of the country’s delegation at the 29th FAO Regional Conference for Europe.

The Assistant Minister expressed the Montenegro Government’s willingness to transfer knowledge and expand scientific cooperation with FAO. 

Blagota Radulovic also highlighted Montenegro’s readiness to celebrate the International Year of Family Farming in 2014.  

More than 600,000 small farms in the country continue to play a key role in food security. “The country needs FAO advice on sustainability and further development of these family farms,” the Assistant Minister said.  

Among the other issues discussed was a new Country Programming Framework for FAO work in Montenegro, which is expected to be completed and signed soon.
