Talks focus on food security challenges in conflict-hit and water scarce region

15 May 2017, Abu Dhabi - FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva  today met  FAO's Zero Hunger Goodwill Ambassador for the Near East and North Africa (NENA), Darine El Khatib, for talks that focused on the food security challenges facing the region.

12 May 2017, Tokyo - Graziano da Silva today thanked the Government of Japan for its continuous support to FAO's work at a meeting with Japan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fumio Kishida.

New agreement aims to facilitate the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

12 May 2017, Tokyo – FAO and Japan’s International Cooperation Agency (JICA) are strengthening cooperation towards the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with a strong focus on a food and nutrition security and support for sustainable agriculture, forestry and fisheries.

The enhanced partnership between FAO and JICA also seeks to promote South-South and Triangular Cooperation schemes.
