1 November 2013, Dakar, Senegal - Senegal's Minister for Livestock Aminata Mbengue Ndiaye received FAO Director-General Graziano da Silva for a wide-ranging discussion of challenges facing pastoralists, including improving data on livestock.
The Minister thanked FAO for the organization's support, particularly in the area of livestock vaccinations, while the two discussed other ways to improve animal and human health and well-being.

1 November 2013, Dakar, Senegal - FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva today congratulated Papa Abdoulaye Seck on his appointment as Senegal’s Minister for Agriculture and recalled the many years that Seck collaborated with FAO as Director General of the Africa Rice Centre.
The two officials discussed global food security and nutrition and Seck stressed that Africa has the potential to be the food basket of the world.

The two principals discussed Resilience issues in the Sahel as well as the new AGIR Initiative to which FAO is actively participating.

31 October 2013, Dakar, Senegal - FAO Director-General met with representatives of the Senegalese private sector and emphasized the key role that they can play in reinforcing food security and in developing sustainable agriculture. Companies present discussed their activities ad issues encountered in the areas of distribution of agricultural inputs, production and processing of local commodities including cereals, fruits.
The representatives of the Senegalese Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture, and the national
