Indonesia joined global effort against illegal fishing

12 June 2016, Rome - FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva today met  Susi Pudjiastuti, Minister for Marine Affairs and Fisheries, who was in Rome to attend FAO's annual Committee on Fisheries. 

FAO Director-General praised Indonesia's effort, as it is one of the 34 countries (plus the European Union on behalf of its 28 members) that have acceded to the Port State Measures Agreement,  the world's first international treaty specifically aimed

12 June 2016, Rome - FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva today met Kim Young-suk, Minister for Oceans and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea, in Rome to attend FAO's Committee on Fisheries. 

Korea is one of the 34 countries (as well the European Union on behalf of its 28 members) that have acceded to the Port State Measures Agreement,  the world's first international treaty specifically aimed at tackling Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated

Focus on post-capture losses reduction

12 June 2016, Rome- FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva today met Angola's Fisheries Minister, Victória de Barros Neto, in Rome to attend FAO's Committee on Fisheries, for talks that focused on cooperation in the fisheries field, in particular support to reduce post-capture losses, as well as small-scale acuiculture.

Oman, first country in the Middle East to become a party to the Port State Measures agreement to tackle illegal fishing

12 June 2016, Rome - FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva today met Oman's Agriculture and Fisheries Minister, Fuad bin Ja'afar bin Mohammed Al-Sajwani, in Rome to attend FAO's Committee on Fisheries. 

Oman was the first country in the Middle East to become a party of the Port State Measures Agreement,  the world's first international treaty specifically aimed at tackling Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing.
