"Milan Charter" will help spur global dialogue on pivotal role of hunger and malnutrition in sustainable development

7 February 2015, Milan - With its theme "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life" the 2015 World Expo offers a chance to mobilize public opinion around the pressing need to make the eradication of hunger and malnutrition central pillars of the global development agenda, FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva told world leaders gathered here today.

Cooperation between Russia and FAO on agriculture and food security issues to deepen

5 February, 2015, Rome - FAO will open a Liaison Office in Moscow in order to strengthen cooperation links between the Russian Federation and the Organization in the areas of agriculture and food security.

Under the terms of a Host Country Agreement signed today at FAO headquarters, the new office is set to open later this year.

31 January 2015, Addis Ababa - FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva today met with the President of the Republic of Malawi, Arthur Peter Mutharika, on the sidelines of the African Union summit

The Director-general expressed his sympathy with the government and population of Malawi which is affected by serious floods. Some 170,000 people have fallen victim to this natural disaster and FAO has been supporting the country in this emergency
