Graziano da Silva hightlights Turkey’s emerging role and support to its region

18 June 2013, Rome -  Turkey’s Minister for Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Mehmet Mehdi Eker, expressed strong support for FAO’s decentralization and reform process at a meeting with Director-General José Graziano da Silva here today. The Minister also expressed his country’s interest in working more closely with FAO. Graziano da Silva, on his side, underlined Turkey’s emerging role and the strong support it provides in its region.

Agriculture Minister underlines the importance of cooperation with FAO

18 June 2013, Rome, Italy -  Iranian Agriculture Minister Sadegh Khalilian has expressed strong support for FAO’s proposed Programme of Work and Budget. At  a meeting yesterday with FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva, the Minister also expressed his country’s interest in further strengthening cooperation with the Organization and suggested that Iranian expertise could be used in the framework of South-South-Cooperation.

FAO activities central to Senegal’s rural development

Rome, le 18 juin 2013- Senegal’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Equipment, Abdoulaye Baldé, detailed his country’s new food security and social protection programmes at a meeting with FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva.

The programmes are modelled on Brazil’s successful Bolsa Familia social welfare programme, he told the Director-General when they met yesterday during the 38th Session of FAO’s Governing Conference, taking place here from June 15-22. Bolsa Familia

17 June 2013, Rome - Norwegian Ministers Heikki Holmas (International Development) and Trygve Slagsvold (Agriculture and Food) met with Director-General José Graziano da Silva at FAO today.

17 June 2013, Rome, Italy - Mohamed Ahmed Awaleh, Djibouti Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock and Natural Resources, met today with the Director-General at FAO Headquarters. The Minister expressed his appreciation of the award he received yesterday from FAO, along with 37 other countries, for his country’s progress in hunger reduction.
