Governing Council reviews policy proposals

FAO meets with private sector groups to eye sustainable development efforts
30 November 2012, Rome – The private sector can make an important contribution to the fight against poverty and hunger, and promote sustainable food production and consumption, FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva said today, during a meeting with private sector associations and federations.

Investment key to long-term resilience

22 November 2012, Rome - Visiting Haitian President Michel Joseph Martelly and FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva  today appealed for increased investment in the country in order to build its long-term resilience.

Graziano da Silva pledged FAO's support to Haiti through interventions that address both immediate crisis situations and the root causes of the island nation's food insecurity and poverty.

FAO and Ethiopia discuss action to improve food security

22 November 2012, Addis Ababa – The Prime Minister of Ethiopia Hailemariam Desalegn has given his full support to the high-level meeting that the African Union, Instituto Lula and FAO are organizing on 4-5 March 2012 in Addis Ababa to promote food security in Africa.
