FAO Director-General praises the country for joining the Port State Measures agreement against illegal fishing

27 September 2017, Rome -  FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva today praised Namibia for joining the Port State Measures Agreement, a FAO-brokered groundbreaking international accord aimed at stamping out illegal fishing. 

In talks with the Minister for Fisheries and Marine Resources of the Republic of Namibia, Bernard Esau, the pair discussed ways in which FAO can help the country building capacity to implement the agreement to enhance sustainable fisheries.
