Rome, 23 June 2014 - The plan for an agreement to implement a FAO project on forest monitoring system in the ten countries from the Congo Basin officially kicked off this Monday.
According to this agreement, the Brazilian National Development Bank (BNDES)
23 June 2014, Rome - Prince Laurent of Belgium was today appointed FAO Special Ambassador for Forests and the Environment.
The announcement was made by FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva at the Organization’s Committee on Forests (COFO) opening ceremony in Rome.
The appointment is in recognition of Prince Laurent’s longstanding efforts to promote global development and his passion for the environment, sustainable technologies, and animal health and well-being.

19 June 2014, Rome – FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva met today with the Philippine’s Agriculture Undersecretary, Segfredo Serrano, at the Organization’s headquarters in Rome.
Graziano da Silva thanked the Undersecretary for the successful collaboration carried out between the Government of the Philippines, FAO and other international agencies, which led to a fruitful immediate response to the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan in November 2013. He
