Strengthening policy work, key to enhancing investments in agriculture and agribusinesses in the region

15 July 2014, Rome – FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva today met with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Suma Chakrabati.

Both emphasized the importance of strengthening policy work to enhance investments in agriculture and agribusiness throughout the region.

“Food security is a key element of national security,” President Aliyev says

15 July 2014, Rome – The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, met today with FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva at FAO headquarters in Rome.

With agriculture growing at a 6 percent in the first half of 2014, President Aliyev described the sector as “an important priority for the government and a tool contributing to job creation and the national GDP.”

9 July 2014, Rome – The Thomson Reuters Foundation, the corporate charity of the world’s biggest news and information providers, is teaming up with the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to improve global information and awareness on hunger and food-related issues including food production, food security, food waste, agriculture, land use, and malnutrition.
