Minister Deng: “FAO coming fully to the country is very important for us”

5 December 2013, Rome, Italy - FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva held his first meeting with South Sudan Minister for Agriculture, Forestry, Tourism, Animal Resources and Fisheries, Beda Machar Deng, since he was appointed last August. Coordination in the agriculture sector and support to fisheries sector, main issues discussed

5 December 2013, Rome, Italy - FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva held a meeting with the Vice Minister for Agriculture of the Republic of Liberia Charles McClain at FAO Headquarters today.

Graziano da Silva showed his support to the Minister and he also informed Minister McClain that Liberia is one of the countries for which resources are being mobilized to finance implementation of the Voluntary Guidelines.

US$2 million IFAD grant to FAO for capacity development

Rome, 5 December 2013 - The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) will provide a grant of US$2 million to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) for enhanced management and implementation of agricultural development programmes. The pilot project will improve planning capacity of developing countries. Kanayo F. Nwanze, President of IFAD, and José Graziano da Silva, Director General of FAO, signed the grant agreement today
