Graziano da Silva meets the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry

9 March 2014, Tacloban/Rome- FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva met with FAO partners in the Philipines today.

At the meeting, representatives of the Government and the Department of Agriculture of the Philippines presented the damages and the impact of Typhoon Haiyan in November 2013.

Alcalá: “Rice farmers have planted crops with FAO-provided seeds and fertiliser”

9 March 2014, Tacloban/Rome- FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva met with the Filipino Secretary of Agriculture Proceso Alcalá during his visit to Tacloban and surrounding areas today, four months after typhoon Haiyan -locally known locally as Yolanda- struck the central Philippines. 

“I am here to say that FAO is here to support your work,” Graziano da Silva told the Secretary of Agriculture.  “Our work is only beginning.

Former President of Ireland welcomes FAO’s new partnerships strategy

7 March 2014, Rome- Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland and current head of the Mary Robinson Foundation - Climate Justice, welcomed “FAO’s approach in promoting new and stronger partnerships to combat global challenges of hunger, food insecurity and climate change” at a meeting with FAO Director-General today.

Robinson was the keynote speaker at the International Women’s Day event held at FAO headquarters in Rome.
