Graziano da Silva highlights the importance of "living agricultural museums"

7 October 2013, Rome - FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva met with the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan, Yoshimasa Hayashi, at FAO Headquarters today.

Graziano da Silva showed his appreciation for the country’s support to FAO and for Japan’s ratification of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture. Japan will become the 130th Contracting Party of the Treaty later this month.

Director-General meets Egyptian Minister for Agriculture and Land Reclamation

7 October 2013, Rome – FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva met Egyptian Minister for Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Ayman Farid Abu Hadid, at FAO Headquarters today.“Today I am not only welcoming the Minister of a major partner, but also a colleague and good friend of FAO”, said the Director-General referring to the minister’s past involvement with FAO.

Director General and Brazilian Minister also discuss the importance of Brazilian South-South cooperation

6 October 2013, Rome – FAO Director General José Graziano da Silva met with Brazilian Minister for Agrarian Development Gilberto José Spier Vargas in Rome today.  They commented on the excellent partnership between the Brazilian Ministry and FAO in developing and implementing projects as well as advocating for food security.

Agriculture represents 70% of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (DGP)

6 October 2013, Rome – FAO Director General José Graziano da Silva met Albanian Minister for Agriculture, Rural Development and Water Management, Edmond Panariti, at FAO Headquarters today.

Director-General opens the International Food Security and Nutrition Civil Society Mechanism (CSM) meeting that will debate a number of key issues during the annual Committee on World Food Security

5 October 2013, Rome – Over 240 civil society representatives hailing from 175 countries across the world met today at FAO headquarters to begin their annual CSM Forum. During the next two days, these representatives will work to find consensus on key issues to be discussed in next week’s plenary meeting of the FAO’s Committee on World Food Security (CFS).
