Meets with Brazilian Minister Gilberto Carvalho
25 April 2013, Rome - FAO Director-General has praised Brazil's "strong commitment and support" to ending hunger at a meeting with Minister Gilberto Carvalho, Secretary General of the Presidency of the Brazilian Republic. The two held a bilateral meeting on Tuesday during a week-long session of  FAO's governing Council.

Nicaragua's Foreign Minister meets FAO Director-General

23 April 2013, Rome - FAO recognizes Nicaragua's  great efforts in the fight against hunger, FAO Director-General, José Graziano da Silva told Nicaragua's Foreign Minister Samuel Santos López today. They held a  bilateral meeting at FAO headquarters during FAO's governing Council session taking place this week.

Between 1990 and 2010, Nicaragua reduced the prevalence of  undernourishment in the country from 55.1% to 20.1%, thus successfully meeting  Millennium

Proposed new partnership will build on successes, political commitment

22 April 2013, Rome - Ministers and senior delegates from five African Nations met today with FAO Director-General José Graziano da Silva ahead of a High-Level meeting of African and international leaders in Addis Ababa next June  set to create a renewed partnership for intensifying efforts to end hunger in Africa.

Commitment to fight hunger and poverty cited
21 April 2013, Rome - The three Rome-based UN agencies - the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the World Food Programme (WFP) - were made  honorary citizens of Rome today.
