The 1st African Forum on Urban Forests: FAO and UN-Habitat collaborating for a greener, healthier and happier future.
FAO and UN-Habitat are bringing technical experts together online with local voices from across Africa to exchange experiences and lessons learned. The forum aims to identify concrete actions to be taken at the regional level.
Information note
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) are co-hosting the 1st African Forum on Urban Forests from Accra in Ghana.
- An online forum uniting technical experts and voices from across the continent to exchange experiences and lessons learned.
- Discussions focusing on potential long-term collaboration on the development of strategies for a greener, healthier and happier future in Africa, aiming to identify concrete actions to be taken.
- Working in line with the Call to Action and the five standards proposed by the Tree Cities of the World which was launched at the 1st World Forum of Urban Forests
- Providing inputs and contributions to developing and implementing the FAO’s Green Cities Initiative in Africa and to implementing the recommendations of the African Forestry and Wildlife Commission’s recommendations from its 22nd session held in March 2020 in South Africa.
