Launch of TCP - Support to the capacity building of National Points of Contact and Committees of CODEX Alimentarius, for three countries of the Sub regional Office for Southern Africa: Zimbabwe, Lesotho and Swaziland.  (15 and 16 September - Mbabane)

The project will be focused on improving food control systems in southern Africa through two specific areas:  support to the smooth transition of CC-AFRICA coordination from Cameroon to Kenya which came into effect in January 2015 and capacity building for national Codex Contact Points (CCPs) and National Codex Committees (NCCs) in three target countries of Zimbabwe, Swaziland and Lesotho, ensuring multi-sectoral involvement across the key stakeholders and various sectors involved in food safety control, and support for improved interactions between national food control authorities and regional economic communities, namely the Southern African Development Committee (SADC) and the Common Market for East and Southern Africa (COMESA).The project will contribute to improving the capacity of the three countries and enable them to participate and contribute efficiently to the international food standard setting process in Codex Alimentarius.
