Regional Capacity Building Workshop on  Monitoring of SDG Indicators in Eastern Africa, Addis Ababa,

FAO Subregional Office for Eastern Africa will host the The Regional Capacity Building Workshop on Monitoring of SDG Indicators in Eastern Africa in collaboration with The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI). 

The Workshop will  bring together technical experts from competent national authorities such as Ministries of Agriculture and National Statistical Offices of countries in Eastern Africa, as well as of competent regional entities such as The African Union Commission, Regional Economic Communities, East African Community, The UN Economic Commission for Africa and The Food and Agriculture Organization of The UN. 


Specific objectives:

  • Update of countries on methodologies and tools for Indicators
  • Build capacity of technical staff of countries and agencies on the compilation of selected indicators through technical lectures, demonstrative country presentations and hands-on exercises on the compilation of the indicators.

Outputs Expected Outputs:

  • Preliminary situation assessment of technical capacity of countries to monitor selected SDGs carried out for 9 countries in Eastern Africa. The assessments can be used for planning and resource mobilization at national and regional levels. 
  • In-depth training on the methodology and tools for selected SDG Indicators conducted with competent partners from 9 countries and regional stakeholders in Eastern Africa, so that the domestication process of learned indicators can be supported.

Venue and Duration:

The Regional Capacity Building Workshop on Monitoring of SDG Indicators will be held at the International Livestock Research Institute in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and last five days (10-14 June 2019).
