The inauguration w was attended by representatives of the host government, countries of the
subregion, dignitaries Ministries, the African Union, the UN System and the Diplomatic
Corps. Ato Addisu Legesse, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and
Rural Development was the Guest of Honour and he inaugurated the new centre together
with Dr Jacques Diouf, the FAO Director-General.

SFE serves as a technical and policy service centre to Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya,
Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, and Uganda each of which also has its own FAO representative
