The Constitution requires that a General Session is organised every two years at FAO HQ, Rome, to decide on the main orientations of the activities of the Commission. At this session, each member country is represented by a delegate, usually the Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO) or another high-ranking veterinary official.The Commission is presented with reports on the FMD situation in various regions, a report from the World Reference Laboratory for FMD, IAH, Pirbright, UK, a report on the activities of the secretariat and a report on the activities of the research group. It reviews the finances of the Commission and elects the members of the Executive Committee and the Research Group.The next General Session will be the 35th Session and it will be held in FAO HQ, Rome, Italy in April 2003 (provisionally 9-11 April).
