In 3 experiments, Duroc X Yorkshire pigs, 60-70 days old, were given diets containing cassava whole root chips silage (CWRS), increasing from 1-2 kg/pig daily in week 1 to 6-6.5 kg/pig daily in week 7, supplemented with protein supplements based on soyabean oilmeal (SBM), SBM plus cottonseed oilmeal (CSM), SBM with fish meal and CSM with fish meal. Results indicate that CWRS may be kept in silo for at least 4-6 months and that given with adequate protein supplements to grower-finisher pigs produces satisfactory performance.
