For 364 days concentrates containing 25% defatted groundnut cake (DGC) or 50 or 75% DGC replaced by defatted karanja cake (DKC) were given with free access to rice straw to 15 male Brown Swiss X Haryana calves initially 6 months old. Diets were isonitrogenous. Average daily gain was significantly reduced by replacing 75% DGC with DKC. Digestibility of DM, organic matter, crude fibre and nitrogen-free extract were not affected by including DKC in the diet.
