For 150 days 28 Deccani sheep were given roughage to appetite and daily 250 g concentrate containing 0, 10, 20 or 30% castor bean meal (CBM) detoxified by autoclaving at 20 lb/in.2 for 1 h. Histopathological studies showed deleterious changes in the vital organs of sheep given 20 and 30% CBM but suggest that 10% CBM was safe.
