Fatty acid composition was estimated for 42 samples of vegetable oils and their soapstocks from 6 Mexican companies. The highest concentration of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) was in sunflower and safflower oils and their soapstocks. In general soapstocks had lower concentrations of PUFA than their oils. The use of vegetable oils, and especially soapstocks, in animal feeds is discussed.
