Abstract 318Use of groundnut and cottonseed oil meals in sorghum-based broiler feed mixtures.Blaha,-J; Salah-Eldin,-HM; Jakl,-A Inst. The feed mixture, BR-1, given to broiler chicks from 1 to 21 days old was based on sorghum and contained 5.8, 7.8, 0.0, 29.0 or 10.0% groundnut oilmeal and 5.0, 5.0, 8.0, 3.8 or 15.8% cottonseed oilmeal. From 22 to 56 days old the feed mixture, BR 2, also based on sorghum, contained 4.3, 8.0, 0.0, 20.0 or 12.0% groundnut oilmeal and 6.0, 9.0, 11.0, 7.3 or 15.6% cottonseed oilmeal. Average bodyweight of the broilers at 56 days old was 2300.7, 2387.2, 2150.7, 2150.4 and 2210.0 g, respectively. The chickens took 3.14, 2.84, 3.32, 3.01 and 3.25 g/g gain.
