For 8 months 3 groups of 6 adult Deccani sheep were given concentrates based on maize, rice and molasses with 30% groundnut cake (group 1) replaced by caster bean oilmeal not detoxified (group 2) or detoxified (group 3). There were no significant differences in haemoglobin value, red blood cell count and packed cell volume among groups. Total white blood cell counts were significantly higher in groups 2 and 3 than in group 1. Neutropenia and lymphocytosis were found in groups 2 and 3.
