For 7 months, 2 similar groups of 6 adult Bikaneri rams were fed on wheat straw and til [Sesamum indicum] cake which was either untreated or protected by formaldehyde at 5 ml/100 g crude protein. Treatment tended to reduce the digestibility of nutrients but there was no significant difference in the consumption of DM or total digestible nutrients, though the digestibility of crude protein was reduced. Nitrogen retention tended to be greater, though not significantly, and wool growth was markedly increased by the formaldehyde treatment.
