Calves were given daily a control diet of 6 kg green berseem, paddy straw to appetite and 1 kg, then later 1.5 kg, concentrate mixture with linseed cake 57, wheat bran 25 and maize 15%. Replacement of 50 or 100% of linseed cake with niger cake had no effect on weight gain, utilization of diet, nutrient digestibility (except fat digestibility which decreased) and balances of nitrogen, calcium and phosphorus.
