Daily DM consumption by lactating Black Bengal goats from low lying para grass pasture (Brachiaria mutica) in Nov.-Jan. averaged 2.44 ñ 0.05 kg/100 kg liveweight. Daily intakes of digestible crude protein and total digestible nutrients, respectively, averaged 22.59 ñ 2.17 and 222.27 ñ 17.82 g. The animals maintained their bodyweight during the season indicating that their nutritional requirements could be met from pasture alone.
