Dried water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) leaves or sesame cake, 26 and 29% crude protein on an air-dry basis, were included as 20% of the diet of ducklings from 1 to 12 weeks of age. The diets also contained crushed wheat 57.0, wheat bran 12.0, fish meal 6.0 and bone meal 1.5%. Bodyweight gains were 774 and 932 g, feed consumption 3679 and 4162 g and feed efficiency 4.3 and 4.5, respectively. Boiling the leaves before drying increased weight gain to 858 g but did not affect the other values significantly. Boiling sesame cake had no effect on performance. The 4 groups had a similar mortality rate.
