Condensed vinaza (distiller's solubles of about 60 degrees Brix) replaced 0, 20, 40 or 60% of the soluble solids (Brix) in fresh sugar cane juice fed free choice to fattening Pekin ducks. All diets were complemented with 40 g/d (air dry basis) of whole soya beans (previously boiled for 30 minutes), azolla free choice and a vitamin-mineral supplement. For the first 22 days the ducks were housed indoors and fed a starter diet designed for broiler chickens. During the experiment (23 to 64 days), the ducks (3 replicates each of 10 ducks per treatment) were in a pond divided in 12 areas each with access to shelter on land where the feeds were offered. Liveweight gains were: 31, 31, 27 y 22 g/d and feed conversion (dry matter basis) 5.76, 4.82, 4.89 y 5.36, for vinaza replacement levels 0, 20, 40 y 60%.
