Madhuca indica Mowra, mowrah, Illipi, meeBoth trees are native to southern Asia and are cultivated for the edible fat in their fleshy seeds. The oilcakes are rich in saponin and toxic, causing injury to the mucosa of the digestive tract and haemolysis of the blood. Detoxification by heat treatment has been attempted, but the treated cakes are very low in digestibility.
