Alloteropsis semialataTongolonakangaAlloteropsis semialata (R.Br.) Hitchc. Reference: 637 Hairy tufted perennial 20-90 cm high. Occurs naturally in tropical Africa, Asia and Australia in open grassland or woodland. Locally abundant. Introduced to Madagascar and now common in plateau grasslands. In Australia, one of the main species in thin lowland woodland and can withstand some waterlogging. Good grazing grass with good herbage quality. It is an early grass and, in Kenya, fresh herbage is produced at the very beginning of the rains when other grasses still dormant. |
