 | Abstract 111 Cottonseed cake in breeder hens diets: effects of supplementation with lysine and methionine.Dongmo,-T; Pone,-DK; Ngoupayou,-JDN Animal Research Station, PO Box 125, Mankon, Bamenda, Cameroon. Archiv-fur-Geflugelkunde. 1989, 53: 6, 231-234; 19 ref. In 2 experiments, 450, 9-month-old Vedette hens were given diets containing 0, 7.5, 15, 22.5 or 30% cottonseed cake expeller (CSC) without or with 0.15% lysine and 0.15% methionine. Egg weight, fertility and hatchability decreased with increasing CSC in the diet. Supplementary lysine and methionine removed this effect at 15% but not at 22.5 or 30% CSC. Combined effects of gossypol and essential amino acids on hens fed on high-CSC diets are discussed. This abstract relates to the following species:Gossypium spp
