Two trials compared feeding value of tropically adapted maize with conventional temperate hybrid maize when used as the main energy source in diets of young, growing pigs, 7 to 25 kg. Pigs fed on diets containing tropical maize had rates of weight gain similar to pigs fed on normal maize diets, but required slightly more feed per unit of weight gain.
