Two groups of 5 male Black Bengal X Beetal kids 3 months old were freely fed on Leucaena leucocephala hay or Trifolium alexandrinum hay as sole feeds up to 14 months old. Goats given L. Leucocephala donated semen earlier and a total of 32 semen ejaculates were obtained compared with 5 ejaculates from the group given T. alexandrinum. Plasma LH and testosterone increased from 12 months old in both groups but was greater in goats given L. leucocephala. L. leucocephala had no adverse effect on reproductive performance.
