Data are given on DM, CP, CF, crude fat, ash, carbohydrate, energy and mineral contents, amino acid composition, chemical score [protein quality] and in vitro protein digestibility of Trifolium alexandrinum, Vigna unguiculata, Cyamopsis tetragonoloba, Medicago sativa, oats and maize grown for fodder in farmers' fields in the North West Frontier Province of Pakistan. CP content was 15.8-18.3% of DM in the legumes compared with 5.8-6.5% in the cereals. The legumes were also good sources of Ca, P and Fe. In vitro digestibility was 62-75% for legume protein and 50-55% for cereal protein. This abstract relates to the following species:
