Lennerts,-L

Muhle-+-Mischfuttertechnik. 1988, 125: 3, 23-24.

Nutrient contents of different coconut cakes/expellers and oilmeals were similar to those of cereals, but crude protein reached 20 to 21%. Protein of expeller/cake with 4 to 8% fat and of oilmeal contained lysine 2.4 to 2.5, methionine plus cystine 2.9 to 3.8, tryptophan 0.8 to 1.6, threonine 3.3 to 3.4, arginine >10 and leucine >6%. Cellulose was relatively high and lignin low. Minerals exceeded 6%. Values for K and P were from 1.8 to >2 and from 0.53 to 0.58, for Mg at least 0.3 and for Ca only 0.15%. Main trace elements were Fe and Mn with >450 and 64.9 to 73.5 mg/kg, followed by Zn, Cu and Co. In cake nicotinic and pantothenic acid reached 26 and 6 mg/kg. Both products are incorporated in large amounts in mixtures for dairy cows and also for fattening cattle and calves.
