Studies on haymaking on three outstanding grasses.

Hay was made from Panicum maximum cv. Comun, P. maximum cv. Likoni or Andropogon gayanus after 9 or 10 weeks growth following 60 kg N/ha. Herbage was cut in the morning and the drying curves monitored for 4 days. DM content ranged from 26 to 30% in freshly cut forage and from 76 to 82% on the 4th day in A. gayanus and P. maximum cv. Likoni, resp. CF ranged from 37.1 to 38.0% (DM basis) in the cut forage and from 38.1 to 40.5% on the 4th day in A. gayanus and P. maximum cv. Comun, resp. CP decreased during drying.
