Abstract 249Meat production on grazing with hay supplementation of some grazing field and molasses-urea in Awo climate.Gonzalez,P; Ortega-SJA National Forestry Agric. and Animal Res. Inst., Veracruz, Mexico. Journal-ofAnimal-Science. 1986, 63: Supplement 1, 302. This study was conducted in the SE of Tamaulipas State, Mexico, with av. annual precipitation of 800 mm and a dry season of 6-7 months to study the production of Dicanthium aristatum cv. Angleton, Cynodon nlemfuensis cv. Santo Domingo and Digitaria transvala cv. Transvala. 15 European-bred yearling calves (200 kg) were grazed in the rainy season and fed hay and molasses-urea in the dry season. The calves were weighed every 28 days after 8-12 h fasting. No significant differences were found for meat production/ha between grasses with 185.3, 192.7 and 159.0 kg/ha for Angleton, Santo Domingo and Transvala, resp., during the rainy season on 196 days of grazing and 34.3, 67.7 and 30.0 kg/ha, resp., during dry season on 168 days of grazing.
